Indication
Drug administration via digestive tract in neonates, infants and children.
Product highlights
In order to respond to the specific needs of neonatology, Vygon promotes an enteral range dedicated to neonates and newborns, called nutrisafe2. This range is compliant with ISO 80369-1.
Safe
Specially designed for neonatal patients, nutrisafe2 is a unique safe enteral feeding system incompatible with Luer and other small-bore connectors in accordance with ISO 80369-1 requirements. The risk of misconnection is minimized, and the patient safety is increased.
The lockable system provides additional security. Accidental disconnection is practically impossible, ensuring precious nutrients are received.
Clean
Feeding tube must not create extra risk to neonates by introducing bacteria into their digestive tract.
Studies have shown that the design of ENFit™ comes with the need of setting up a cleaning procedure, and that even followed thoroughly, only 31% of connectors were off residues. (1)
nutrisafe2 is, by design, less prompt to keep residues. Indeed, nutrisafe2 connectors have a less threaded interior to sequester milk or medication and is much smaller. (2)

Accurate
Dose accuracy is of great importance in the NICU wards, especially for critical drugs administration. For example, the morphine dose for a preterm baby can start at 0.03 ml. Studies have shown that because of fluid displacement there is an overdosing risk with the syringes.
Description
Amber-colored enteral feeding syringe reducing the exposure to light of drugs before drug administration and safe with a Nutrisafe2 connection designed for neonates and children. The Nutrisafe2 connection is compliant with ISO 80369-1. Consequently, accidental misconnections between Nutrisafe2 connectors and other small-bore connectors intended for other clinical applications (venous access, limb cuff, urology, respiratory… as described in ISO80369) are mitigated and the right administration route is respected.
4 volumes are available: 1ml (code 1022.012), 2.5ml (code 1022.022), 5ml (code 1022.052), 10ml (code 1022.102).
The Nutrisafe2 syringes are fitted with an orange body, a purple-colored plunger and a “C-GON VYGON ENTERAL” marking, enabling instant identification for enteral use. Each syringe is supplied with a cap.
The Nutrisafe2 connection is centered for the syringe codes: 1022.012 (1ml), 1022.022 (2.5ml), 1022.052 (5ml), 1022.102 (10ml).
The graduation is:
- Every 0.01ml for the 1ml syringe (code 1022.012),
- Every 0.1ml for the 2.5ml syringe (code 1022.022),
- Every 0.2ml for the 5ml syringe (code 1022.052),
- Every 0.5ml for the 10ml syringe (code 1022.102).
