Indication
Plain endotracheal tubes are inserted orally or nasally into the trachea of neonates, babies, or infants when it is considered that the use of a cuffed endotracheal tube could cause to these patients severe tracheal injuries.
They are used to compensate respiratory failure in general anesthesia, intensive care, resuscitation, etc...
Description
520.xx references are pediatric green plain endotracheal tube without cuff. 520.xx references are softer than 516.xx endotracheal tube references.
They are available in 10 sizes, from 2.0mm internal diameter to 6.5mm.
A plain endotracheal tube is composed of:
- An extra-soft PVC green tube with:
=> a radiopaque line
=> a tube distal end bevelled at 38°C
=> a black glottic depth marking, at the distal end, which indicates an insertion of 24mm
=> a marking depending on the length and size of ET tubes:
- every half-centimeter, from 3cm to 13cm for the tubes of 2.0 and 3.5mm internal diameter.
- every centimeter from 9cm to 21cm for the tubes of 4.0 and 4.5mm internal diameter.
- every centimeter from 13cm to 21cm for the tubes of 5.0mm internal diameter.
- every centimeter from 15cm to 25cm for the tubes of 5.5mm and 6.5mm internal diameter.
- A standard ISO 15mm male proximal connector, used to connect the endotracheal tube to the ventilator
