Indication
Paediatric Multicath 2 is a double-lumen CVC inserted in the internal jugular, subclavian or femoral vein using the Seldinger technique allowing:
- Infusion of parenteral nutrition, drugs administrations, hyperosmolar solutions
- Transfusion of blood, or blood products
- Blood samplings
- Simultaneous administration of medication even those presenting chemical incompatibilities

Description
Paediatric Multicath 2 is a double-lumen radiopaque polyurethane central venous catheter inserted in the internal jugular, subclavian or femoral vein using the Seldinger technique.It is a 4.5 Fr catheter with totally separated lumen. Each lumen can be identified by "DISTAL" or "PROXIMAL" printed on the extension tube at the proximal end of the catheter.
The catheter is fitted with a flexible distal tip (green part of the distal tip).
The user can choose between 2 types of introducer: a needle or a short I.V. cannula.Both lumen have the same diameter: 20G.The catheter features centimetric graduations from 5 cm from the distal tip. No marking on catheters 6 cm long.
Paediatric Multicath 2 is available with :
- 1 STANDARD STRAIGHT guidewire in stainless steel (codes 1202.xx3 / 1203.xx3)
- 1 TEFLON-COATED STRAIGHT stainless steel guidewire (codes 1202.xx1 / 1203.xx1) or
- 1 TEFLON-COATED NITINOL "J" guidewire particularly kink-resistant (codes 1202.xx2 / 1203.xx2)
Multicath 2 is presented in a rigid blister pack containing:
- 1 double-lumen radiopaque PUR catheter with intermediate hub fitted with fixation wings Ext. Ø 1.5mm - 4.5Fr - Length: 6 - 8 - 12.5 - 20 or 30cm
- 1 introducer echogenic needle Ext. Ø 0.8mm - 21G - Length 38mm
- 1 short IV catheter, 22G, Length 25mm
- 1 guidewire (see information here-above) with guide advancer
- 2 5Fr dilators (Length 38mm and 60mm), except code 1202.063 and 1203.123: 1 5Fr dilator 60mm long
- 2 injection caps
- 1 syringe 5ml
- 1 supplementary fixation wing
- 1 scalpel
